Cocaine Blues

"Amelia McNaughton took corners as though they were a personal affront." Kerry Greenwood in her second Phryne Fisher mystery.

I am a fan of the 1920s, so one day while I was wandering through Houston's famed mystery bookstore Murder By the Book (murderbooks.com) I was intrigued when I saw a staff pick set in that era.

I read the book and found it to be completely wonderful and advise you to try it if you like cozy historical mysteries full of wit and quirky characters. Many thanks to staff member, McKenna, for choosing it and thereby introducing me to the world of Phryne Fisher.

Thanks for the book suggestion. I had been looking for some older mysteries to read.

Now...back to that editing and ice cream.

Next time you're in that store, please tell 'em hi for me, although I'm not sure if there's still anybody there that I know. Does Martha Farrington still own and run it?

Nancy,

Yes, according to the staff section on their website, Martha Farrington still owns the store. And you probably also know Dean James. It says he's been with the store since the 1980s.

It's a really great place, isn't it? I love the old photographs of authors' signings from over the past few decades. Very cool.
