PARAPALOOZA - Day 6
Southern Witch series Quote of the Day:
"All I needed was to drive the werewolves off, find Edie, cure Zach, and get a new job. Piece of cake. Well, a five-layer, two-days-in-the-making, and every-pan-in-the-kitchen-dirty Death By Chocolate Cake maybe."

I know several things about Dakota Cassidy.
First, she looks fabulous in a little black dress. (I met her very, very briefly at a cocktail party in Dallas)
Second, she's very generous. I'm pretty sure she was crazy busy with her own writing when my editor asked her if she'd be willing to read a book by a new author for a possible cover quote.
Third, she's got a great wry, self-deprecating humor that makes you want to have a million margaritas with her.
When I asked if her: "If you were a song from the 80's which would you be?" here's what she said...
"I'd like to say Like a Virgin is the song I'd be from the 80s, but that'd be a total lie. 'Cause I was no virgin. So I've decided on Let It Whip. See, I'm old--all my body parts whip around in one way or the other. :)"
I crack up every time I read that quote, and every time I read one of her books. She's great! Visit Dakota at www.dakotacassidy.com

Wonderfully talented, Sharie Kohler (who I've had margaritas with!) writes great paranormals under her name and fabulous bestselling historical romances under the pen name Sophie Jordan.
Recently, I asked Sharie which is her favorite villain from her books. Here's what she said:
"As a favorite villain, I would have to chose Darius from MARKED BY MOONLIGHT ... but then, I've begun to reform that naughty werewolf. He's destined to be the hero of his own book soon. Hmm, how about Jonah from my current release, TO CRAVE A BLOOD MOON? He's a pretty bad half-werewolf dude who actually tries to "off" the hero and heroine of TO CRAVE A BLOOD MOON. But hey, he has his reasons! ;) Actually both Darius and Jonah are reform-worthy. Personally, I believe the best villains are never all bad ... a great villain is always redeemable. You be the judge. Check out my series and let me know if villains Darius and Jonah are heroes in the making."

One of my favorite villains of all time was the Mayor of Sunnydale from season three of Buffy.
One minute, he'd be like, "Faith, you know I don't like that kind of language." Then next, he'd say, "Now go kill these people."
Just an odd and entertaining combination that really worked.
I mean, ahem.

She works she fights and she keeps her own council.
Favorite villain? OMG, there are so many...but Cruella De Ville has a special place in my evil little heart.
My favorite villian? And the only villian to come to mind was Stryker. First villian to still be bad and plus have a book (that I'm aware of!)

My favorite shapeshifter would have to be Sam Merlot from True Blood! He's just so caring and protective over Sookie.. I want a guy like that. Not to mention, he's cute and has a mysterious air to him.

My favorite villain would have to be Hannible Lecter. He's so confused, and yet has his mind set at what he wants to do. The poor man is haunted by his childhood and what happened. He couldn't prevent it, but he doesn't seem to understand that, and I feel sorry for him. In a way, his emotions is the real villain to him and everyone around him. Hannible also has a powerful air, which I'm drawn to and find sexy. I'd comfort him on his past.. *wink wink*

Sharie - I loved "Marked by Moonlight", but the 3rd book of the series was my favorite...
My favorite shapeshifter is Dorian from the Psy/Changeling Series by Nalini Singh.
Have a nice day,
Ina
My favorite fictional villain is Tinkerbell. I know most look on her as a hero but that is part of her villainy. She got the lost boys to try to shoot down the "Wendybird" (who needed it because Wendy is a trifling beeyotch), she gave up the location of the hideout to Captain Hook and garnered the sympathy of millions by "sacrificing" herself when, as a villain, she knew she was in no real danger.
I recognize the above is simply my opinion and follow my great grandma's advice that opinions are like bumholes: everyone has one and they sometimes stink. Tink as villain is my longtime theory but I love, love, love her. I have shelves of her dolls, a tattoo of her and my bathroom is Tink (which my 3 teenage sons think is awesome - NOT lol)
Mercy Thompson, Adam Hampton from Patricia Briggs, Vane, Fang & Fury Kattalakis
My favorite villians are MaryAnn from Charlaine Harris/True Blood and Stryker from Sherrilyn Kenyon.

The shapeshifter that totally changed my world from the first story I read in the Sookie Stackhouse series is Sam Merlot. What an amazing character!
Shana Abe's drakon series is fantastic also! I love the characters who change into dragons. I fell in love with the worlds she created. There is so much emotion that you actually feel what the characters are feeling.

I also love when characters in books start out "villain-like." Like Eric from the Sookie Stackhouse books.. sexy and dangerous but turns out and grows to be the opposite of the villain.
Being a Sookie Stackhouse series nut my fav shape shifter is Sam too.
Worst villain?
Psycho! Norman Bates
There are several books suggested here that I'm going to have to check out for their sexy shifters. :)
