PARAPALOOZA - Day 1

Southern Witch series - Quote of the Day:

"I'd never kill anyone with hair that fabulous."
~ Rollie the vampire

* * *

Gerry Bartlett writes a terrific humorous paranormal series featuring a beautiful full-figured vampire. Here's what Gerry has to say about becoming one of the undead herself...

Since you write about vampires, if you had the choice, would you want to be one?

"Lots to consider here. First, my heroine, Glory St. Clair, was turned when she had a few extra pounds to lose and then she was stuck like that. So first, I’d have to diet down to a perfect weight. And that’s obviously not going to happen. I have the self-control of a mosquito in a nudist colony. Then there’s the whole liquid diet thing. Sorry, but I love my food too much to give it up. What fun is it to live forever without steak and a baked potato? Not to mention chocolate truffles. I have to have crunch in my diet too, just like my heroine. She suffers just to taste the occasional Cheeto.

On the serious side, the immortality thing is a big deal. If I were given the option, I wouldn’t want to be turned vampire. No way. Not unless everyone I know and loved would live forever too. I can’t imagine watching them die while I lived on. There could be nothing worse.

Hey, this is getting way too gloomy now. In REAL VAMPIRES HATE THEIR THIGHS, coming in February, Glory has her pick between two hot guys. Now that’s what I’m talking about. I write fiction, folks. And there’s nothing more fun than escaping into a book where all your dreams can come true. So, sure, I’d live and look young forever. I’d have hot guys at my feet and elsewhere, if you get my drift. And figure out a way to eat too. If I’m writing this story, then I can make it happen. Right?" ~ Gerry Bartlett

Hee Hee Hee. Yeah, there's a reason I love Gerry & Glory. Now if you'd like to win a signed copy of Barely Bewitched from the Southern Witch series (and Book 1 Would-Be Witch, if you don't have it) and an autographed copy of the first book in Gerry's series (Real Vampires Have Curves), please pop into the comments and tell us whether you'd like to be a vampire or not.

P.S. If you'd like to visit Gerry's site, you can find her at www.GerryBartlett.com

  1. I don't think I'd like to be a vampire, no. I love the way things smell (no breath would make that a very dull sense, at the least); I love the sunlight, and - as the author mentions - watching everyone I care about grow old and die while I didn't? Egad, no.

But perhaps for a short time, it would be fun. At least as long as I could find my old high school gym teacher and drop by for a visit...

In the traditional sense, no - I really would not wish to be a vampire. Yet - aren't we all 'vampires' in one sense or another? We live by taking in the energy of other lifeforms, we out live our beloved pets, and sadly, our loved ones on occasion. Yes, we may stand in the sunlight as well as moonlight, but what a fine line separates the two.

On the other hand, what good could perhaps be accomplished by a true 'vampire' - someone who could live eons untold, and amass a wealth of knowledge, experience and the monetary means to put so much learning in place. I think it would take a very unselfish soul - in this particular sense - to 'sacrifice' themselves to immortality in order that they might serve a larger purpose.

LOL - deep thinking so early in the morning is not my cup o tea!

PS - I absolutely LOVED Would Be Witch, cannot wait to get the next book :)

  3. Oh No! Not me! I'm a day person. LOL Although I hate waking up in the morning, once I get going I love the color and life the sunshine offers. :)

Can't wait to read your next book!!

  4. While certain things about being a vampire sound appealing, in the end I think I would say no thanks. It's hard enough saving for retirement now...how would you ever save enough for eternity??? *L*

  5. Not really, but I guess it would depend on which "vampire" you would become. Each author has their own ideas on what a vampire is and what their symptoms are. Some aren't as bad as others. But unless my family and the person I love were also vampires the life really isn't for me.

  6. I so would love it, besides the grusome blood thing, I would love to live for eons, think of the experiences. And I would have to bite my honey so he could be one to ;-))

    bjwaldron(at)gmail.com

  7. I would like to be a vampire, I'd just want to choose who's world I'd live in. Some can survive daylight, churches, and synthetic blood. I'd like to be one of those.

  8. Vampire...there are benefits - like the whole 'no sleeping' thing. Plenty of time to explore hobbies. Still, I think I'm fond of being a human - and there's the whole icky blood-drinking thing! lol.

  9. I think I would like to be vampire. To be able to see what how the world would change as time passed.

But like most people, it would suck (no pun intended) to see my love ones died yet I continue on living.

What it comes down to it, it would all depend on what kind of a vampire I would be. Certainly would love to be one that wouldn't be restricted by daylight.

Okay, I absolutely love your Would-Be Witch and can't wait to get my hands on Barely Bewitched.

And Speaking of vampires, I love Gerry's Vamp series as well. Can't wait to read her next book!

Thanks Kimberly for creating PARPALOOZA Fest 2009. Maybe you can do this next time on the release of your next book? (hint!) ;)

    Stef

  10. I'm thinking not. Unless it comes with health insurance.... :)

  11. Hmm..That's a tough question. I'm not sure I would want to be immortal and watch so much suffering that humanity goes through. Too heartbreaking. And to outlive those you love deeply, especially children. Ugh.

However, there is that romanticized appeal. I'd have to be ungodly rich, young, vivacious, be able to soak in the sun, frolick in the sea...oh, you know, LIVE.

  12. Besides the blood thing, I'd like to be a vampire..I'd adjust. I'm a night person anyways.
    elaing8(at)netscape(dot)net

  13. I'd hate to be a vampire--the blood thing--but mostly because of living forever.

Do vampires have to diet and exercise? If not,I might be more interested.

    Jane Myers Perrine

  14. I couldn't be a vampire - - I love the sun and I cannot stand the thought of drinking blood and killing something to get it! Yikes! However, I do like how "badass" mainstream vampires have gotten - - and their super abilities would be cool to have, at least for a short while.
Thanks for entering me in this contest. What a great giveaway!

  15. I don't think I would like to be a vampire. I would not like seeing my loved ones grow old and die while I stayed the same.

I have not read the Southern Witch series - but I have it on my wish list. :)

I have read the first 3 books in Glory's series and I've enjoyed each one.

Thank you for the wonderful giveaway.

  16. Hi Kimerly!
first at all - congrats for your new book! It sounds fantastic...

That's a difficult question... immortality and boundless possibilities versus a mortal life? *lol*
Honestly, I would like to meet a real vampire before I judge... like Laurie said, there are a lot of different vampires and my decisions belongs to them.

    Best whishes,
    Ina

  17. I really put my feet in it *oops* Naturally that should be "Kimberly" sorry, sorry, sorry *hug*

  18. Like vampire (or Highlander) I wouldn't want to outlive friends/family. Being a were wouldn't be bad (slow aging process, paranormal powers) or having a witch's powers (in Charmed I always wanted Paige's powers) but there is too much you have to give up for all that you get to be a vamp.

  19. Hi Kimberly and congrats on your new book! Sounds great...
I would like to be a vampire but not the traditional one. I like the ones Stephenie Meyer wrote - the good ones anyway :)

  20. I'd make a kick-ass vampire!

    The pale skin? Check!

No problem with blood? Sure! (I'm a nurse, after all)

The ability to wear leather pants? Er, I'm working on it.

  21. Kimberly! I'm getting Barely Bewitched in the mail but I haven't read the first book! Could BB be a stand-alone book? 'Cause even though I want to read the first one, the second one's already on the way, soooo I'm hoping I can read it! :)

  22. I haven't read Would be witched yet but I have it on my wishlist. It really does sound great.

If I'd like to be a vampire? I'd haev to say no. Even tho some aspects would be pretty kool, I don't think I could stand drinking blood and no sun.
I guess be a dhampir would be great tho *winks*

  23. Yes, I would love to be a Vampire!! I've loved Vampires since I was a kid!!

I used to tell my best friend we had vampires in our family because of our fanged teeth. She believed me!!

Thank you for putting out such a fun contest. I can't wait for the new book and to check out Gerry's book.

  24. I'd be the perfect fit for a vampire I think. Totally against the sun already. I better able to function at night and have no issues with blood.

  25. I think I would like to be a Vamp. All the black you can wear, always looking fabulous, yep sign me up

    Can't wait for book 2!!

  26. Some of the vampire character traits are pretty cool and I don't might living at night. Can I have a 30-day try-out *wink*

  27. If open worldwide then I am in
    blodeuedd1 at gmail dot com

Honestly, no, I like the day, I don't wanna look all pale. I like food, and I would not want to live forever.

  28. It depends.. there are so many different takes on vampire lore, so while I might want to be one kind, not sure I'd like the other. Hmm.. I think if I could choose, I'd be a half vampire, half human, like Cat in Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series. Especially if that means I could find my very own Bones to snuggle and... do other things with!

    Haha, thanks!
    Morning Glow
    ohmorningglow AT aol DOT com

  29. I think I would love to be a vampire as long as I had someone to share the experience with. I would be sad not to see daylight again, but I also love the night. While there are downfalls to being one, I think that perks are more than worth it.

    Kate
    neverendingshelf@gmail.com

  30. As long as I lost a few pounds first, vampirism wouldn't be too bad. As long as I wasn't a mopey, woe-is-me vampire it would be kind of fun. Scaring kids on Halloween. Vanquishing enemies. Perfect skin. If there were coffee-flavored blood, it would be heaven!

  31. It all depends on what type of Vampire I would have to be... but yes I would like to be a Vamp -- just one that didn't have to kill to survive and while I might not like the sun it wouldn't put me into a deep coma while it was up.

  32. I sure would, to have immortality would be great! tWarner419@aol.com

  33. Wow! It is awesome to see you all here, and you guys are so funny! Nathan, if you turn undead, your gym teacher should be very afraid!

I'm excited to be able to celebrate by giving away books! This week is going to be so great! (AND I've got some guest blog spots at other places to give away more of my books, so there will be lots of chances to win this week and next!)

Wendy - you asked if BARELY BEWITCHED can be read before WOULD-BE WITCH. The answer is yes, It definitely can stand alone.

  34. Gerry's post was hilarious. I loved it. But to answer your question - No, I'll pass. I'm with the others on the blood thing. I couldn't handle that. I have enough trouble in human form. LOL

But it is interesting to think about. Mmm...
    Linda

  35. No vampirism for me. I like the sun too much. And what happens if you get a cavity in your fang? I hate the dentist even now, I can't imagine that changing when I have to rely on my teeth to survive!

  36. Yes!! LOL, I sometimes think I am...I'm VERY nocturnal, oh so pale, and anemic my whole life, and I FRY when I'm out in the sun, lol. I jokingly tell my daughter I just know I'm a vampire and no one has figured it out yet!!

  37. It depends on what vampires there are.

    The old Nosferatu ones?
    Surely not.

    Anne Rice impotent?
    Nah. Too depressing.

But there are some vampire kinds of the more humorous writers I pretty like.

I would prefer being a bottle-kid, but I could live with blood sucking because I would hunt down evil does.
I always wanted to be a superhereo, if I was a vampire I could surely turn good.

However there are mentioned downsides... I love cooking. Okay I could probably be happy with cooking for others, but the weight issue... well :/
I don't want to be stuck like that for eternity and I would like to have at least on immortal partner

    Else it's no fun:(

So if I ever would turn vampire I would surely do good for the world.
But if I was offered if I wanted to be or not I would have a hard time and probably say not if these aren't very cool, modern vampires.

    signed, Kate

  38. I would have to think long and hard if given the choice. To live longer, yes, to have to drink blood, not so good, sunlight, I could go either way. But I don't think I could watch my grandchildren age and die before me so I guess thats a big no in the end.

  39. I'm not the vampire kind of girl; definitely more the witch type. :) I love reading the books and getting to know the characters, though!

  40. I would not want to be a vampire. I like the sun too much

    debby236@att.net

  41. I would love to be a vampire. Living forever, being young forever....traveling.....seeing all that history....lots of benifits. :)

  42. Would I like to be a vampire?? Nope I love my coffee too much!! But I love books about vampires so that is as close as I am willing to go.

  43. I would love to be a vamp!! The teeth, the perfect skin, the hair!

I'd miss the sun but wowowow think of everything you'd see!

  44. Kimberly, awesome! That's so good to hear. :)

  45. I hate getting up in the mornings for work, but I can never stay awake at night to do anything, so I don't think I'd make a good vampire either, myself. I love to read stories(romance ones only)about vampires and they seem cool there but I'd never want to meet one in real life.

  46. I wouldn't mind being a vampire, with only 3 stipulations,
    1) I would have to be a vamp without a sun allergy.
    2) I would have to have an afterlife partner so I wouldn't be lonely.
3)I would have to drink synthetic blood, the whole biting thing just ain't happenin'
Great interview Gerry luv your books, can't wait for Vampires Hate Their Thighs.
Kimberly, its a good thing Barely Bewitched is out soon while I'm waiting for Gerry's book

  47. I think I'd miss out on too much to become a vampire, despite the perks they have. I like my garlic cheese toast way too much.

  48. Anna Eaves
    william.eaves@insightbb.com

No, the vampire lifestyle is not for me. I am too much of a morning person. I would be friends with a vampire, though I wouldn't want to be the buffet.

I do love a good read and Would Be Witch hit the spot, I can't wait to read the next one!

  49. Since I'm pretty much a night owl anyway I wouldn't mind being a vampire to some degree. I'd be able to sleep all day, and my husband couldn't wait me up in the morning (he's a morning person, yuk!) Then I think of the cons, I'd be stuck the way I am which is something I don't want, no more food *cries* and I wouldn't be able to see my family. Being a vampire is nice to think about sometimes but I think I'll just stay the way I am, lol.

  50. No, I don't think so. I'd miss tasty tasty food much too much. That and ew, I really don't think I'd like blood. :)

  51. I don't think I would like to be a vampire because I like the sun too much. I do think being immortal would be great though.

  52. No, thanks. Otherwise, where does that leave us with the "fantasy" that we love to read about so much?

  53. I don't think I would like to be a Vampire. I like the sunlight and I don't wanna have fangs! :)

    Val
    lastnerve2000@gmail.com

  54. I could be a vamp, and sucking blood - no problem, I'd drink from bad people. And imagine the fun you could have along the way while looking for your perfect mate!

  55. I agree with Gerry. If I could pick when I became one, you know at the beautiful stage, maybe!! When you get right down to it, there are more down sides than upsides to becoming a vampire. I do love to read about them!!!!

  56. No thanks for the vampire. All the stuff Gerry mentioned also applies to me, but the whole "vengeance on those who ticked me off" would be cool...

  57. I think being a vampire would be the creme de la creme. Being able to see the changes in the world. Having kick ass strength. And all the other naughty things you could do. Yup, sign me up. :)

    Debby G.
    brodythewildchild@yahoo.com

  58. Yes, I'd like to be a vampire if I could choose my eternal mate!! Who wouldn't want to spend forever with Edward Cullen, Mick St. John, Henry Fitzroy,Eric Northham...etc...I can't think of a good enough reason not to!! :)

  59. I think I'd have to give being a vampire a pass. Maybe I've just seen Highlander too many times but the idea of outliving everyone I care about seems like it would take all the fun out of it. Not to mention the blood drinking, I love food, why would I want to give that up for the ultimate liquid diet?

Don't get me wrong, I'd be alright with some awesome powers and stuff, but vampirism just has too many negatives to make it my go to choice.

Now if the question was "Would you like to be a werewolf?" Well that would be a whole different deal.

  60. if i was a heroine like glory in gerry bartlett's books or christine feehan's or jr ward's (just to name a few) then HECK YEAH! where do i sign up?

i am not familiar with your books, YET! i will definitely be looking for you at the bookstore.

    :-)

    brunigirl05@yahoo.com

  61. No way, I couldn't be a vampire. I really wouldn't want to live that long for one thing...I'd imagine it would get really boring after awhile (even if you could go anywhere you wanted) but I'd also hate to see the ones I love pass on before me. I'm too much of a family person.

    -Lauren
    lauren51990 AT aol DOT com

  62. I wouldnot want to be a vampire. I am so not a night person.

  63. I like the daytime too much so probably not. I like reading about them better.

  64. Vampires are alluring but no, I don't think I can handle being one!

    delilah0180(at)yahoo(dot)com

  65. I'd like to be a vampire only in the sense that there is so much that I hope to do before I leave this earth. So many places to see, so many books to read, movies to watch. And new ones are made every year!

I don't really like the idea of the blood drinking or the liquid diet because I too love food. (Although all the great sex doesn't sound bad. hehe!)

I wouldn't mind the vampire super powers because doesn't everyone want to be a super hero at some point in their lives. I guess the real issue then is living forever and I am really unsure about that.

All and all I am up in the air about the whole thing, but realistically I have to say no. Although I wouldn't mind dating a vampire. J/k!

  66. When I think about all of the hot vampire men out there (Connor,Vishous,Qhuinn,Mircea, Victor...etc.) and how I'd live forever and never age I say Hellz ya!

Then I think of my family and friends and seeing them die before me and .... I don't think I could do it. :(

  67. Good question, very hard to answer. In a short-term sense, the advantages of being a vampire would be pretty awesome. You'd get the supernatural speed and strength and you'd be difficult to kill. I guess it also depends on which vampire version we're talking about. Everyone has a different version of a vampire these days. But every single one of them have one thing in common: they live a very long time. I don't think I could stand doing that. It'd be a very lonely existence. So ultimately no, I wouldn't want to be a vamp.

  68. I wouldn't mind being a vampire. I love the night. It is so peaceful and quiet at night when everyone else is asleep.
    Debby Creager
    cleo@hbeark.com

  69. I would only like to be a vampire if I could turn a few pets and people I know. Otherwise I don't think I'd want to. Watching everyone around you die is bad enough as it is without spending an eternity doing so.

    Mel K.
    Meljprincess AT aol DOT com

  70. I don't think I'd like to be a vampire. I'm miserable without sunlight and really don't enjoy blood all that much...

    melacan at hotmail dot com

P.S. Loved Would-Be Witch and can't wait to read book #2!

  71. I wouldn't like to be a vampire because I'm a beach bum and I love mt sunshine. It's hard to give up the sun and food, and all that other cool stuff.

    Please count me in.

    cindyc725 at gmail dot com

  72. I so would love it, there is to much to see in one lifetime. I would have to turn my husbby to though I could not live alone forever.

    shannon@justanothermusing.com

  73. I dont think I would want to be a vampire. I would have so many of the same problems Glory has. Unless of course its the type of vampire that fixes all your physical problems and has flavored bottled blood, although still drinking blood, eww. And I have to admit it would probably be fun for a while, to have the time to get to see and do all the things there never is time for, it would go old and boring after a time. So I think I would rather just keep reading about them.

    Donna
    bacchus76 at myself dot com

  74. are you kidding?! I would looove to ba a vampire
    throuthehaze at gmail dot com

  75. I don't think I would mind being a vampire only if my guy was one too. Wouldn't want to be without him. :-)

    Larena

  76. mmm i think it would be really awesome to be one. the sun is too hot for me anyways. :P
want to own all your books!

  77. Why sure, but I want to be like those Twilight vampires and get all sparkly in the daylight. I love to shimmer. I'm already perpetually pale, fair skin tones to start with. I love gaining knowledge, so reading for centuries sounds like fun. And with my super cool vampire powers, it would be easy to know just how to invest cash to make millions. I'd want my sweetie with me, so if he was willing, I'd be too.

    Dottie :)

  78. No I couldn't do it. Don't get me wrong I'm a night owl but out living everyone I love, no way.

    mtjameson1 @ yahoo . com

  79. I don't view vampires as being dead....they're just different. I don't like alot of sun anyway. Summer is always a nightmare for me. I bet I would do just fine as one. And as others have mentioned.....just think of all the things one could experience through the centuries!!

  80. What a difficult choice...it would be great to live longer and always be beautiful, never get sick and hopefully amass a lot of money to do whatever you would like, but it would be difficult to watch those I love grow old and die, not taste all the wonderful food I love to eat and not be able to look forward to growing old with your spouse, loved ones and friends.

  81. Definitely not. It would mean I would have to drink blood. Yecch!

  82. If I was alone in this world I would like to be a vampire - but right now history doesn't interest me much and I am already skittish enough without looking over my shoulder for stakes!

Fun to think about (and pretend at Halloween!)
    Miranda
    mdwartistry at yahoo dot com

  83. I wouldn't mind being of the undead nature. I have already watched all of my loved ones pass before me. I am young and young at heart. I am also an old soul searching for something that may take more than one lifetime to find.

  84. I think I would want to be a vampire.I like to learn new things, and I mean it would be hard watching my parents get older and my siblings too. But overall, I don't like the sun that much anyways :)

  85. There are certain aspects of being a vampire I like. One, sleeping during the day. Two, staying up all night.
However, I don't think I would enjoy the blood. I love food too much. Have a great day.

    house_mouse88 at yahoo dot com

  86. Yeah, I think I could handle being a vamp. I'd get to be superstrong, with my paranormal abilities I could become a famous magician rivaling Criss Angel et al (wouldn't that be cool), and I'd live through so many interesting events.

    joderjo402 AT gmail DOT com

  87. Hmm, to vamp or not? I'd be tempted, really i've never been much of a sun worshipper. Only thing is, I get teased about my early nights as it is (usually tucked up by ten) and imagine being a morning person and a vamp?

  88. I think I would love being a vampire. I have a allergy to the sun anyways so having to stay out of the sun wouldn't be a problem for me.

I can't wait to read Barely Bewitched and Gerry Bartlett's books always make me laugh

    hdtermite (at) yahoo (dot) com

  89. I wouldn't want to be a vampire because of all the things you have to give up. I wouldnt get to eat the foods I like anymore or go out in the sun. However sleeping during the day and only coming out at night DOES sound up my alley! LOL

These books sound SOOOOOO good! I'd love to read them!!

  90. WOW! 91 commentors and plus more readers...how stoaked are you, Kimberly!!! As for the book, I'm not as keen on vamps but this one was funny and a mite strange for me...lol! But those who love reading about vamps would definitely get a kick.

  91. I forgot something.. YAY! PARAPALOOZA!!! =) *happy bounce*

  92. I'm with Gerry - if all my family could become vampires too - I would be in, but I would hate to drain my loved ones!

I too would need to lose several pounds! Too much work! LOL

  93. I've sometimes wondered if I'm part vamp being such a night owl all my life, lol, but I don't think I'd like the taste of the blood.

  94. No. The idea of becoming a vampire does not interest me either. As a mother, the thought of outliving my kids is awful. Also. I am rather squeamish about blood so being forced to drink it to stay alive for the rest of my life would be extremely unappealing. So in reality the idea of being a vampire does not appeal to me but fantasizing is fun.

  95. I think being a vampire would be cool but I would prefer to be a human because I wouldn't want to watch my loved one die while I was still young and alive. I also am not to keen on the whole being dead thing. I love being a human. I also love Vampires too, so don't be affended my Vampy friends, lol.

  96. The temptation of never growing older is a strong one, indeed! I hate to admit it, but I've recently found that I am actually quite vain! lol! I hate the fact that my age is beginning to show. So, if I were approached by a Vamp in the morning while working my magic with all the potions on my bathroom countertop, I'd say "Hell yeah! Mr. Vamp, switch me over!" Otherwise, i'm not too sure. Tough question really :)

  97. After reading Twilight - maybe lol. But only if thee was another significant other with me. This sounds like a really fun read!

  98. I completely agree.. who wants to give up real food! And I would also want eveyrone else to live forever too!

I LOVED Would be witch and can't wait to read the next one!

  99. If I were given the opportunity to become immortal, vampire would certainly not be my first choice of form to be immortalized in! I'm ... just not a really big fan of vampirism to begin with... and then there's the whole quandry about one's immortal soul, etc.... (And, seriously, like the author said, eternity in the shape I'm in? no thanks!)
So, no, thank-you, I'll not take the vampire ticket.

  100. Nope, no vampire for me - much rather be a werewolf (I would say witch, but am one already ;)
    Eagerly awaiting the next book!!

  101. I think that it would be nice to be a vampire for a while, but when everyone you know starts to die that would cause me to reconsider. Of course, people will always die, so it might be worth becoming one.

  102. I recently discovered both series but have not read either yet - are on my wish list! What a great giveaway!

I think I'd like all the benefits of being a vampire - hearing, strength, live forever; but would hate the "do I have a soul or not" question. And I'd have to ponder it for all eternity, because really there's only one way to find out - gah!!

  103. I'm going to have to go with no on being a vampire. I don't think I could handle the no sunshine clause that comes with the conversion. lol. If there was a way to work around that, maybe find a loophole, and you could keep friends and family, then I'd possibly reconsider.

    Thanks for the contest.

  104. I don't think I'd want to be a vampire and outlive friends and family. I'd also miss food! I also see much better in the sunshine.

  105. I don't know. On one hand I would miss my family desperately but think of all the books I could read in eternity! Wow, that thought almost sways me. My hubby can get under my skin sometimes yet I've received no more than a paper cut from my books. And if they piss me off, I always know the next one in the series will set things to rights. Hubby? Oh he's going to annoy me forever, no changing those facts. lol I love the silly man, but I love reading too. It's a complete toss up hehee!

  106. I'd Love to Be a Vampire. I think it would be fun. But which vampire is the question. I love J.R. Ward's vampire the most. I wish I could just jump inside and be a vampire in her book.

  108. Congratulations! Thanks for a fabulous giveaway! If I had a tall, dark, drop-dead gorgeous vampire mate for all eternity, I just might consider the vampire life! gcwhiskas at aol dot com

  109. Thats a tricky question but I think it would be cool if I could still have friends and family. If I could not be grossed out by blood then maybe it would be ok.

  110. I'd love to be a vampire. Just think, an eternity to read anything and everything. I could put up with drinking blood for that!

  111. To be...dead; Or not to be... dead. That is the question. Oops, where did Shakespeare come from? Well, I guess there's always room for him to slip in.

Okay, so I'm trying to decide now if I would "go vamp" or not, and I've been looking over everything you guys have said.

    On the one hand:
    - super strength
    - super speed
    - perfect skin
    - no need to exercise
    - can get even with evil-doers (like murderers or former gym teachers)
    - might find eternal love with eternally gorgeous guy
    - will have eternity to read books
    - don't have to get up early

    On the other hand:
    - might get a cavity in a fang and have to go to dentist (though in one of Kerrelyn's Sparks's books a problem with his fang is how the hero meets his love)
    - have to drink blood
    - have to give up food
    - have to give up coffee
    - might not have enough in retirement fund to cover expenses for eternity. (Can vamps claim social security?)
    - no sunshine (do spray tans work on vampires?)
    - loved ones die (unless they get turned too)
    - pets die (unless they can be turned. Vampire pets? The humane society would so be coming after us I think.)

My list is almost balanced. I'm going to have to keep thinking...

  112. No, I don't think being a vampire would be too much fun. I'd rather be a human!
    wandanamgreb (at) gmail (dot) com

  113. No, I wouldn't want to be a vampire - or work in the medical field for that matter. It's a little thing I have about seeing blood! However, it sure would help with time management issues since I would have 24/7 to get work done and fit in fun (vampire fun, I guess:)without the need for sleeping.

  114. woo a contest i just love them! i guess in a way i'd like to be a vampire but it depends on the circumstances

  115. i guess if i could be one i would be, just so long as someone else decided for me.(change me without asking first) you would be amazed at what you can or will live with beside that think of what you could do! change the world would no longer be just a catch phrase.

  116. P.S. By the way, Parpalooza -Day 1 happens to also be my birthday! Barely Bewitched would definately be an awesome present!

  117. Like Gerry, I don't think I could handle watching all those I love die before me. So, as much as I like reading about them, I'll pass on becoming a vampire.

  118. Thanks, but I do believe I shall
have to decline! If I was meant
to be a vampire, that is how I
would have arrived on this earth.
I would also have been slender,
gorgeous, tall and had curly hair! Alas, it was not to be!!

  119. I'd love to be a vampire, and I guess I'd just have to find new friends and make new family when the old ones died out :o) I think it'd be fun to just have time to do any little thing that struck my fancy and I'm a total night owl, so the whole not seeing daylight wouldn't bother me too much.

  120. I would love to be a vampire.. hands down! To be ultra sexy... and live for as long as you can... And to be able to change into mist... and other things... And to have Eric from Sookie's series ~ damn!
But then I would also love to be a shape-shifter too... The endless possibilities!!!

Please throw my name in the hat for a chance at winning!!!
    alliwantandmorebooks(at)gmail(dot)com
I hope everyone has a great day and wonderful tomorrow!

  121. Mm not sure I would like to be a vampire but I wouldn't mind having one as a partner; I love he sunshine, I love food and I love wine so wouldn't want to give those up.

  122. Ok. This is my third attempt to get this bloggery posted...I'm impaired.

Here's what I think about being a vampire: they seem to have super tasty sex! Now, that can't be bad!

If you could also maintain an intact soul, drink coffee, and include friends and family in your fabulous fang-y life, why not? I would have to go for plant-based or synthetic blood, though, except for special friends...

  123. It's not all gloom & doom people! Of course I'd love to be a vampire.
I'm already nocturnal, love the night. I can turn family & friends. Go anywhere in the world, just think about how many libraries & book stores I can visit for an eternity. Woo-Hoo!!!
I can be around for the Kindle 3,000,000 DX or whatever they invent next.

    witchywoman064(at)yahoo(dot)com

  124. I would love to be a vampire. Not only does the blood thing work for me,but being a vampire would be an excellent excuse for my quirkiness. And I would finally have an excuse to be an "night person."

  125. I think the only good thing about being a vampire, for me, is that I could wear old-fashioned clothes like Lestat.

I watched Interview recently, and I love that bit at the end where he adjusts the lace cuff of his sleeve.

  126. Becoming a vampire would be a hard decision... it would be very difficult to watch my children die one by one, however you really never know what may happen so if the chance to become one came around it would be hard to turn down. I guess it depends on a lot of what if's... but hey that is anything in life. If I new the future I would be a millionaire..7, 10, 12, 24,.... hehe :)

  127. WOW! WITH SO MANY COMMENTS I STAND NO CHANCE OF WINNING BUT I'D BE INTERESTED IF I COULD GET A NEWSLETTER OR MAIL LIST? I JUST ADORE VAMPS!

  128. It would take some adapting and changing but life is all about change. As with all life changes, there are the good and the bad. I believe a positive attitude helps. I love working at night so that part would not be hard for me. But giveing up coffee might be my downfall.

  129. I don't think I'd want to be a vampire, I like food too much. I couldn't handle a liquid diet lol

  130. Everyone, thank you so much for participating in Parapalooza Day 1. The day's winner has been chosen.

Please pop over to Day 2's comment section to enter to win there!

  131. I do not think that I would like to a vampire because I could not bear to see my family grow old and pass away while I stayed the same. I can only imagine the loneliness.

Although, I really love reading about vampires!!

  132. I love this vampire series! Glory is fabulous.

    Hugs,
    Tambra

  133. I forgot to answer. I think it would be kinda cool to be a vampire. Especially if I had a hot guy vamp too.

    Hugs,
    Tambra

  134. I would love to be a vamp. I hate the sun and I'd love to live forever.

  135. What an awesome response! For all you vamp wannabes and don't wannabes, thanks! Kimber, your contest is a hit! Hope the winner enjoys the prize. As for a vamp pet? Well, how about a shapeshifter to cuddle up with. My Glory had her dog Valdez. Of course now he's gone all too human and ready to more than friends. Oh, you didnt know? Guess you'll have to stay tuned.
