Life's a Beach
"It took me fifteen years to discover that I had no talent for writing, but I couldn't give it up because by that time I was too famous." Robert Benchley
"Anyone can do any amount of work, provided it isn't the work he is supposed be doing at that moment." Robert Benchley
Treasure Island, Florida was a sweet little paradise. Some writer friends and I had margaritas, faced the wind on the upper deck of the rented beach house, and had some interesting conversations about the secret lives of Disney characters. We debated whether the moon was full, who deserves to get eaten by tigers, and whether exposition should just plain be outlawed in the opening couple chapters of a book. Oh, yeah and we wrote a little.
If you're looking for a getaway, Florida has some beautiful beaches. For company, I recommend avoiding the jellyfish, but embracing everything else.
Where in the world are you today?

The main part was worth repeating here--Thanks for the plug a few posts down, very much appreciated.
The rest was curiosity about your upcoming book launch. Publisher? Genre? That kind of stuff.
I'm back in Houston, and it IS cold here. I need to pick up a some logs for the fireplace that I almost never get to use.
Crystal, thanks to you for the reminder that we all need to lotion up our skin. Your kids sound like such cuties.
Kelly - I didn't see the note at Nancy's, I'll skim back. My pleasure for the plug. I really enjoyed your book. Very entertaining!
Kim - It's so great to see you here. I can't wait for your new book to come out. For the other readers, Kim had an alternate identity and wrote a great historical romance with wonderful depth. Since her publisher wanted to re-invent her I took down my plug for it, but if you like historicals, you should check out The Sea King by Jolie Mathis.
Hmmmm. Kim, let's make sure your publisher allows your novel to be pre-ordered in time to allow all your family and friends and friends of the family and the family of your friends to be able to order it for Christmas gifts.
Later, gotta go shoo away some pesky squirrels.
